Workshop with Flávia Tápias

In this workshop, Flávia Tápias will develop exercises in technique, improvisation, choreography, and shared practice of works from Grupo Tapias’s repertoire. Developed by Giselle Tápias 40 years ago, the Tápias Method of Teaching Dance proposes and guides, at the same time, the development of techniques to perform movements safely, in terms of physical integrity, and also with different forms to deal with aesthetics movements. Thus, it promotes the dance of body and soul, without mechanized movements, but rather perceived in their depth. From sequences created with 6 to 10 structural movements, which are proposed and studied in the workshop, the method develops gradually, according to the possibilities of each body. These sequences are rethought and/or modified throughout the working time.

Flávia Tápias is a choreographer, performer, movement director and contemporary dance teacher, graduated from Faculdade Angel Vianna in Brazil. She is artistic director of the “Tápias Festival” and director and curator of the international contemporary dance festivals "Dança em Trânsito" and "Correios em Movimento", held in Brazil and France. She teaches contemporary dance technique and choreographic composition at various international festivals and performances. In the last years she has performed in Portugal, France, Italy, Belgium, Czech Republic, USA and South Korea, among others.

The workshop is intended for professional dancers. The entire workshop length is 2 hours.
