It would be hard to imagine a more iconic site in twentieth-century theatre than the barren tree of Beckett’s Godot. A witness to time, its vicissitudes and defeats. Choreographer and dancer Věra Ondrašíková casts the tree in a series of dance roles in which it changes not only its functions, but also its miraculous times.

Věra Ondrašíková
She studied choreography at the AMU in Prague. She created the choreography for Havel's Anticodes at the New Stage of the National Theatre. Her most successful production GUIDE to date won a number of awards: at the Czech Dance Platform 2016, the Audience Award, the Award for Lighting Design and the Dancer of the Year Award for Jaro Ondruš. In 2017, the performance was selected among the 20 most interesting European acts within the international Aerowaves network and presented at the festivals One Dance Week in Plovdiv, SIDance in Seoul, V4 Dance in New York and New Orleans, in Jerusalem, in Birmingham and Potsdam. In 2021, she created a new production, WITNESS, which won the Audience Award at the Czech Dance Platform 2022.
