Leaving the stage for the first time, Viktor Černický takes on the role of a choreographer and opens the space for local communities of non-professionals. A heterogenous group of local residents, in dialogue with dancers with a diverse background and experience, investigate the boundaries between the individual and the collective. Taking a radical turn from the concept of choreography as a finite composition, PRIMA is a dance work which liberates movement, fosters variability and unfolds anew each time we look at it: right here, right now.
In today's age of mutual separation, PRIMA offers a way to reach out to the unknown and connect. It is a horizontal game in which shared rhythm and individual gestures become the common denominator of change. One by one, the performers plunge into the ocean of movement that goes beyond the world of dance and becomes a wave of information, washing the shores of our perception again and again. Just as high tide and low tide are the other ends of the same physical phenomenon, being oneself and being part of the whole only makes sense in interaction. We are the society we create.
PRIMA is a richly layered dance performance where experience of life and expressivity of art meet in one single electrifying moment. Emerging from the silence, the soundtrack is modest: the pulse of one’s own breath, the resonance of their steps, the friction of their hands. For the group of people who - in the course of three days of rehearsal - create a unique community, each performance is the first one, always the premiere.
The performance is followed by a moderated discussion with the artists.
Viktor‘s first solo performance PAROLAPOLEA earned him nominations in categories Dancer of the Year and Dance Performace of the Year at the 2017 Czech Dance Platform, and was presented with a special award in the form of participation at the Choreographic Research Week at the B-Motion Festival in Bassano del Grappa.
His solo piece PLI received the Audience Award and Total Award of Czech Dance Platform 2019. With this performance Viktor has become a part of Aerowaves Twenty20 selection.
