The TANEC PRAHA 2024 Festival takes place under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel.
In MOS, Greek choreographer and dancer Ioanna Paraskevopoulou develops her research focused on audio-visual tools and their deployment in dance. Along with her colleague and dance partner Giorgos Kotsifakis, she creates live on-stage original soundtracks for sketches and movie scenes using various objects and dance movements. The spectators follow all actions in this unusual sound laboratory, and besides the visual aspect of dance, their focus is shifted mainly to the acoustic quality of movement.
Among others, the MOS performance has been inspired by the coconut effect. Primarily used in the film industry, this term was derived from old movies where the banging sound of coconut shells was used to simulate the clatter of hooves and thus complement the visual action – horse-riding scenes on the screen.
.
The performance uses spoken word in English, sudden loud noises and stroboscope.
Ioanna Paraskevopoulou is a dancer and choreographer working in Athens. After graduating from the Greek National School of Dance, she studeis at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University. Her work focuses on the relationship between audio-visual media and movement. She plays with possible shifts, shuffles and potential augmentation of dance and choreography. Her works have been critically acclaimed in Greece and on the international scene. With MOS, Ioanna was one of the Aerowaves Twenty23 artists.
