Grupo Tápias

Founded in 1994 by Giselle Tápias, choreographer of national and international renown and director and resident choreographer of the dance company since its foundation.

During its more than 30 years of existence, Grupo Tápias has maintained a stable cast of dancers who have built, alongside the choreographer and director Giselle Tápias, a solid technical base and incessant research of their own language.

Sometimes, the company has counted on the participation of guest choreographers in the creation of its works. This was the case with Rodrigo Moreira (RJ), Ricardo Risuenho (PA), Henrique Rodovalho (GO), Ana Vitória (RJ), Rami Levi (Israel), the theatre director Paulo de Morais (RJ) among others.

After the creation of the piece "5 choreographers and 1 body", which had two versions - one with national choreographers and the other with international choreographers, Pol Coussement - Belgium, Thomas Lebrun - France, Stephanie Thierch - Germany, Nicole Seiler - Switzerland, Mathieu Hocquemiller - France, Flávia Tápias took over the direction of Grupo Tápias, which has until today the artistic collaboration of Giselle Tápias.

The group also began a long and incessant tour of various festivals and national and international dance shows.

Today the Tápias Group has in its repertoire more than 30 choreographic creations of which 11 are still active, on tour. The company also has in its repertoire video dances and documentaries about the creative process.
