The TANEC PRAHA 2024 Festival takes place under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel.

An enduring choreographic event celebrating the richness of human diversity.

Even amid profound challenges, certain abilities and possibilities persist in each of us. These can appear as sparks of creativity, flashes of emotional connection, or moments of clarity that defy the limitations we are forced to face. In the tapestry of human experience, it serves as a testament to our complex and multi-layered nature. They are a reminder that regardless of the extent of individual limitation, there is an innate capacity within us for expression, connection and unique forms of contribution to the variability of the world around us. That is why recognizing and nurturing them is so important. By focusing on them, we can cultivate an environment that allows their unique potential to be harnessed.

Elevated is a metaphor for the human spirit's ability to overcome limitations and elevate itself to a state of resilient fragility. It emphasizes the positive and inspirational aspects of human existence. There are times when we feel like we've grown wings. Moments that we celebrate to foster a more inclusive and compassionate society that values the richness of human diversity.

The work is part of Dance Well, a European project supported by the Creative Europe program of the European Union, focused on dance for people with Parkinson's disease or similar mobility disorders. The project is also intended for everyone interested in self-care and social cohesion. The Dance Well community meets regularly for lessons led by specially trained professional contemporary dance artists. Elevated is the next step of this artistic activity. Choreographer and dancer Jaro Viňarský was invited to create the choreography.

During the rehearsals with the dancers of Dance Well, the performative installation Elevated+ was spontaneously added. Jaro Viňarský will become a live invitation for those passing by on 13 and 14 June at 21:00. In the Korzo of the Trade Fair Palace, he will enrich the evening version of the scenic architecture created by Slovak architect Tomáš Hubinský with his movement.

Jaro Viňarský

"I consider the presence of dance and a deep relationship with human creativity to be an existential fact in my life. I've been dancing since I was five years old, and professionally for the last 25... I see physicality as an inevitable prerequisite for human consciousness, from which a person's ability to think and create is born."

Jaro is a dancer, choreographer and performer. He studied ballet and dance choreography at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) and the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU). He is the recipient of many awards, including the SAZKA AWARD for "discovery in dance", the Audience Award at the Czech Dance Platform, and the prestigious THE BESSIES NEW YORK DANCE AND PERFORMING ARTS AWARD in the "outstanding performer" category.

In addition to his award-winning performances, he is also well known for his collaborations, for example with the Belgian choreographer Karine Ponties or the Czech director Petra Tejnorová. In 2011, he founded the SKOK! civic association in Slovakia aimed at promoting Slovak contemporary dance and making it accessible to the general public in the form of lectures, workshops and other activities.

Tomáš Hubinský

Tomáš is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava. In his practice he focuses on architecture, design, science and research. His work has received acclaim at home and abroad.
