Kiko López and Héctor Plaza have established a distinct presence on the Spanish dance scene in recent years. Their work bridges contemporary dance, street styles and physical theatre, emerging from a long-standing artistic partnership shaped by years of shared practice and experience.
What do humans and trees have in common? In their performance for public space, they explore parallels between human life and the life of trees. Both seek their roots and learn to endure and grow in changing conditions. Motifs of roots, growth and interconnection emerge - organic and constantly evolving.

Both performers draw on a rich movement background including hip hop and street styles, contemporary dance, tribal influences and modern jazz. Their movement language is sculptural and dynamic; fragility meets strength, the energy of street techniques intertwines with elements of acrobatics and contact improvisation.

Their stage presence is understated, direct and natural. The authenticity and trust between the two performers are almost tangible, radiating through every movement as well as the silences between them. The choreography rests on sensitive work with weight, precise timing and continuous mutual listening. Bodies connect, separate and meet again, at times appearing as a single organism pulsing with a shared breath.

In their dance expression, masculinity, strength and determination naturally intertwine with remarkable tenderness and mutual trust—much like trees that stand firmly rooted, grow upwards and yet remain flexible in response to their surroundings.

In close proximity to the audience, What Trees Do Not Tell offers a chance to slow down and perceive the relationships between bodies, movement and the place we inhabit - quietly and unobtrusively, like pausing in a forest surrounded by the silent presence of trees.
