About the ensemble

In addition to maintaining the traditions of dance and music of various West African regions, the Ghana Dance Ensemble is dedicated to working with European and US contemporary dance artists. Ghana's charismatic dancers and musicians are used to performing in public spaces. Parks, squares, beaches and embankments are the ideal environment. Everyone has the desire to immediately join in, as is customary in Africa.

Ruhia Sadik

Dancer, teacher, choreographer

Ruhia Sadik comes from Tamale in northern Ghana. After graduating from high school in 2002, in addition to performing traditional Ghanaian dance she started to focus on hip-hop. In 2005 she joined the Ghana Dance Ensemble, which operates at Ghana University in Legon. In 2008 she choreographed an African dance performance at the opening ceremony of the African Nations Cup. She has taught dance for Ghanaian as well as foreign music students at Legon University and has performed with the Ghana Dance Ensemble at the INDIAN AFRICANS SUBMIT FESTIVAL in India. She choreographed a performance for the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Ghana. She runs rehearsals and assigns trainings at the Ghana Dance Ensemble.

Clifford Selorm Ametefe

Dancer, teacher, choreographer

Clifford Selorm Ametefe comes from Kokomlemle in the Greater Accra Region. He attended Christian Methodist Senior High School from 2007 to 2011. He has performed in more than 140 theatre and dance performances in Ghana, including workshops with top Ghanaian and international artists. At the beginning of 2014, he won the Model Africa competition in Ghana, since then appearing in more than 20 fashion shows around the country. In addition to dancing and modelling, he also organizes cultural events, such as the Legon Fashion Weekend at the University of Ghana to promote the Ghanaian clothing business. He is currently a lecturer at the Creative Arts Institute (Atomic), and also works as an Afro Aerobic Instructor at Pulse Fitness Centre (World Trade Centre) & Bling body fitness (Spintex) Accra and choreographs for the Evangelical Church in Kotobabi. He is the founder of his own "Clifford Selorm Foundation".
