ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Lion's Den Unlimited is a new format of the original duet of Sabina Bočková and Johana Pocková, in which dancers meet the general public and prepare a performance together.

The project will create ten new dance pairs composed of one professional and one non-professional dancer. With the help of a four-part tutorial and their mentor, the participants will learn a 20-minute choreography, which they will all try out together in a one-day rehearsal, and then perform together. The choreography works with simple gestures and steps incorporated into rhythmic structures. It is therefore important to have a good memory for movement and a sense of rhythm.

The performance of The Lion's Den is inspired by media manipulation and populism. By being transferred to a public space and increasing the number of performers, it gains a new dimension and intensity. It shows the social power of dance as a participatory art that expresses itself on current issues, and in a fun way!

Premiere (public presentation) will take place within the program of the 33rd annual TANEC PRAHA Festival 2021 in Prague (outdoors).

The project is held with kind support from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, The City of Prague and the Prague 3 District, in co-production of TANEC PRAHA Festival and POCKetART z.s.
