JIŘÍ BARTOVANEC RE-STAGING THE CHOREOGRAPHY KREATUR BY SASHA WALTZ WITH STUDENTS OF THE DUNCAN CENTER CONSERVATORY

TANEC PRAHA FOR STUDENTS is a program line of the festival in which we try to convey to students of art schools and the public the way in which various figures of the world dance scene work. This year we cannot follow up on the international program, which is postponed to next autumn, so we accepted the offer of Jiří Bartovanec and the Duncan Centre Conservatory to share the exceptional experience of final year students staging the work of world-famous choreographer Sasha Waltz: Kreatur.

The result of the students' work with Jiří Bartovanec, a long-time member of the Sasha Waltz & Guests ensemble, will be presented on Thursday, June 25, from 17:00, followed by a Q&A.

Jiří Bartovanec re-staging the choreography Kreatur by Sasha Waltz with students of the Duncan Centre Conservatory. At the beginning of March students of the Duncan Center Conservatory in Prague had the opportunity to get to know one of Sasha Waltz's latest choreographies. The production Kreatur was brought to the Czech Republic by one of her dancers and collaborators Jiří Bartovanec. During the workshop students had the opportunity to experience this choreography first hand. However, not as spectators, but directly as protagonists. The workshop took place at the time of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and due to the closure of school institutions it was not possible to complete it.

The director of Duncan Centre Conservatory Romana Lisnerová had an idea to give to students a live experience with contemporary choreographies from world-famous creators. The school opens up new opportunities for its students and in cooperation with the TANEC PRAHA Festival and the PONEC – dance venue are sharing the exceptional experience of students of the last years with the study of the work of the world-famous choreographer Sasha Waltz. The work on the performance Kreatur will be another new stage experience for young dancers (5th and 6th year), which will bring them closer to the real dance scene.
