TANEC PRAHA Festival 1998 | 16 June – 2 July 1998

TANEC PRAHA celebrated its 10th anniversary in non-traditional venues. The thrilling group Anomalie made up of graduates of the renowned French new circus school under the direction and choreography of Joseph Nadj received a standing ovation in the Folimanka sports stadium with the piece Le Cri du Chaméléon. Chapiteau in Prague's Letna district gave space to the work of Twyla Tharp, another American legend, or the Taipei Dance Circle. There was also the idiosyncratic Wendy Houstoun, who had embarked on a solo career after years working with DV8. The Canadians were represented by the progressive Holy Body Tattoo Dance, and Archa welcomed Pilottanz, Déja Donné, Alias and Anna Huber. In autumn of the same year, the City of Prague 3 announced the results of a tender for the cultural use of the former PONEC cinema. For Tanec Praha this was a great victory and challenge.
