Internationally acclaimed choreographer Emanuel Gat creates each work in close collaboration with the dancers of his company, developing an intimate dialogue between choreography and music. Since 1994, when he created his first solo Four Dances to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, he has worked with numerous institutions and prestigious international companies around the world (Sydney, Geneva, L.A., New York, Vancouver, Berlin, Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and more).
In 2004, he founded his own company, Emanuel Gat Dance, and created works that received international acclaim, including Winter Voyage and The Rite of Spring, the latter of which was awarded the Bessie Award in 2006. A few years after settling in France (2007), he was invited by the Montpellier Danse festival, through which he created pieces such as The Goldlandbergs and SUNNY. From 2018 to 2021, he served as an associate artist at the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris, and in 2018, he collaborated closely with the Festival d’Avignon. In the midst of the 2020 pandemic, he created LOVETRAIN2020, which was awarded Best Dance Performance of the Year in France. His most recent work is Freedom Sonata.
Throughout his career, Emanuel Gat has developed a rich methodology and original pedagogical approach to dance creation. He is regularly invited by leading dance schools and institutions around the world and, through Emanuel Gat Dance, offers young dancers opportunities to dive into his practice through internships, workshops, and masterclasses.
