For the third consecutive year, TANEC PRAHA is providing space to artists, who fled the war in Ukraine, this time, with the offer to co-produce new works in fully professional conditions.

The Creative Europe programme has helped by supporting the research project Moving Borders, which aims for a deeper understanding of around 30 talented artists, who have wound up in various corners of Europe, and use dance to overcome trauma, support community work with children and adults, as well as, when possible, continue their creative efforts. We have decided to approach three of them who impressed us the most: Alina, Daria and Yana. They are completely different, coming from various backgrounds, and having various experiences and styles of work. Each one of them lives in a different EU country, yet despite this, they have accepted the invitation.

The title of this performance is “Swind,” a play on the words swing & wind. The main choreographer of this movement pun is Alina, who currently lives in France, though collaborating closely with Daria, who spends her time between Spain, Poland and Ukraine. The creative performer is Yana. For 3 years now, she has lived and worked in Prague; the festival is also giving her the space to finish her own duet, on which she has been working with the Brazilian dancer and choreographer Clara. There are several versions of this work, and thanks to the expansion of the festival into the regions, all of them will be performed.

The premiere of Unity in Motion will take place on 18 June at the Ponec.
