Ten dancers explore and celebrate their common identity through physical and intuitive dance accompanied by live drums and electronic music. Marco de Silva Ferreira's sensual and enchanting choreography is based on well-known dance steps, inspired by club parties and balls

What role does individuality play in the community building process? What is the identity driver? What bodies pass through our world? World-renowned choreographer Marco de Silva Ferreira poses these profound questions about our world and cultural belonging through spontaneous, intuitive and sensual dance in the production of CARCASS.

Ten dancers, each distinct in nationality, culture, and identity, grace the stage with not only virtuosic dance prowess but also with a wild, uninhibited and vibrant energy. The stomping of sneakers on the floor, accompanied by drums and electronic music, creates a devilish rhythm, whose pace resembles both techno parties and folk dances. Audiences can anticipate contemporary dance that ignites the senses, captivating with its beauty and visceral physicality that leaves hearts racing.

The performance uses spoken word in English (with Czech subtitles), nakedness, loud music and intense light.

As a choreographer, Marco de Silva Ferreira began his artistic career with the staging of Hu(r)mano in 2013. BROTHER (2016) consolidated an authorial discourse and both pieces integrated Aerowaves  Priority Companies. Subsequent significant projects followed: Bisonte in 2019, Corpos de Baile in 2020 for the Portuguese National Ballet Company, and SIRI in 2021, which Marco created in collaboration with Jorge Jácome. In 2022, three more works were introduced: førma Inførma in collaboration with Via Katlehong, Fantasie Minor with CCN de Caen in Normandy, and CARCASS, which was coproduced by Big Pulse Dance Alliance. This year, Marco is preparing the production a folia for Ballet de Lorraine. Marco has been a resident artist at the Teatro Municipal do Porto (2018-2019), at CCN Caen in Normandy (2019-2021), and is currently engaged at Maison de la Danse in Lyon (2023-25).
