The 38th edition of the international festival TANEC PRAHA will be opened on the 1st of June, 2026, in the Ponec theatre, by the Lebanese-Spanish duo Guy Nader & Maria Campos, with their group of dancers and acrobats. Their performance Natural Order of Things has already enjoyed much critical acclaim. The equally prominent Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos will take care of the ceremonial closing of the festival on the 23rd of June in the Karlín Musical Theatre. My Fierce Ignorant Steps promises a thrilling spectacle.

Yvona Kreuzmannová, the founder and director of the festival, says, “This year's festival lifted audiences out of their seats on numerous occasions. I believe that the same will be true in 2026. The creators of the main events, the opening and closing of the TANEC PRAHA 2026 festival, will both return after 10 years. What holds us together in a world that is constantly changing? The natural order of things — the rhythm of nature’s laws. The dancers of GN|MC (Guy Nader & Maria Campos) draw the audience into a cyclical stream of movement, where minimalist motifs layer, intensify, and continually return to their original pulse. Their brilliant partnering, work with weight, and testing of the body’s physical limits create an organic system reminiscent of natural processes — fragile, yet remarkably resilient. Harmony and aesthetic clarity stand here as a gentle protest against chaos; through beauty and cohesion, they resist disintegration, just as nature itself does.

Christos Papadopoulos builds a hypnotic structure from micro-movements, rhythmic phrases, breaths, and voices — a current that intensifies until it reaches an ecstatic conclusion. His newest work embodies the purest form of minimalism: a masterfully attuned group of dancers moves in perfectly synchronized rhythm that still leaves space for each performer’s individuality and natural presence. My Fierce Ignorant Step is a choreographic meditation on courage, youth, and vital energy.

The Prague programme will be exceptionally diverse, offering audiences performances of the best international creators, as well as co-productions of Czech artists in collaboration with various personalities from Europe. 

Twice, we will visit Jatka78, once with the exceptional, multi-talented Cameroonian artist Zora Snake, then again with the well known Greek-Slovakian duo Linda Kapetanea - Jozef Fruček.

The Ponec theatre will open its gates to Israeli and Spanish artists in two diametrically opposed duets which thematise feminine energy, resilience and perspective. This scene will then prioritise performances for children, delivered by artists from Italy, the Czech Republic and Ukraine. Family Friendly introduces a prominent theme in this year's programme, not only in Prague, but also in the regions.

20 towns and municipalities will be visited also by artists, who were selected through the European Aerowaves platform. Their concepts are focused on non-theatre spaces, even simply a calm water surface. They will arrive from Latvia and France. French, Spanish, Italian and local creators will fill in the programme with their own Open Air projects.
