Viktor Černický

Viktor Černický is an interdisciplinary dance artist who creates works that straddle the fine line between dance, performing arts, circus and visual arts. He is based in Prague, Czech  republic. His work, awarded with Total Award and Audience Award of the Czech Dance Platform 2019 has been repeatedly supported by TANEC Praha. He‘s a nominee for the Total Award and Dancer of the Year Award at 2017 Czech Dance Platform as well as for 2019 Theatre News Award.

His work is broadly presented by European and Asian venues and festivals, among others in Paris, London, Hong Kong, Helsinki, Barcelona or Rome. He‘s been a Dancenet Sweden supported artist. He is a Twenty20 artist at Aerowaves – a leading hub for dance discovery in Europe.

Viktor works across artistic fields, having the embodied reflection and relationship with objects at the core of his work. In the frame of a two-year Creative Europe project Shape It, he has been rethinking the artistic process along with and for the young audiences in Finland, Italy, Czechia and the UK. In PRIMA, a piece designed for the general public, he has encouraged local communities to take their place on stage in the creation process as well as in the performance. The project is commissioned and co-produced within the BeSpectACTive network that moderates dialogue between the public and the artists across Europe.

Alongside his own work, he has also collaborated and performed with e.g. Dominique Boivin (FR), Daniel Gulko (FR), Sonja Pregrad (CRO/DE) Cirk La Putyka (CZ) or Compagnie Mossoux-Bonté (B). Since 2019, Viktor has been a guest teacher at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, supervising the students‘ artistic processes at the international MA Directing of Devised Theatre programme.
