Calm in a winter landscape.
A silence in which time momentarily slows and the world softens - it is from this atmosphere that Come Neve emerges.
On stage, two figures appear, wrapped in crocheted costumes with bonnets and wide skirts that evoke folk dress. The colourful, handmade structures recall the work’s original inspiration - snowflakes and the craft of women who, during the pandemic, found comfort and connection in a "crochet club". It is from their creations that the visual identity of the choreography is drawn.
The dancers move with precise accuracy, like a single organism, to the rhythm of a gentle piano accompaniment. Their movement language works with cyclicality and repetition, creating the impression of a living pattern - as if a fabric were unfolding before the audience’s eyes in real time. Small, focused accents of the hands alternate with fluid turns reminiscent of traditional folk motifs. Wide skirts and tiny steps create an illusion of lightness, as though the bodies on stage were floating.
The choreography is in constant transformation: from a delicate, almost meditative flow, a precise geometric structure begins to emerge. Movement gathers momentum like a finely tuned mechanism, only to quieten again and dissolve into stillness. The structure expands and condenses, at times accelerating with mechanical precision before settling once more into absolute calm. The repetition of motifs acts as a subtle ornament that gradually draws the viewer in, calming the mind and opening space for the perception of ever-new, delicate details.
Come Neve evokes the slow fall of snow - recurring, yet never identical. From shared movement, singular patterns arise, as fleeting as snowflakes touching the ground. Bolognino invites the audience to pause, to return to an inner stillness, to a sense of childlike safety.
