Paradise Birds is the culmination of a two-year collaboration between the creators, focused on reflecting and stimulating dialogue on how the concept of femininity has been historically shaped. It offers a poetic alternative where multiple truths and perspectives can coexist. The core of the work consists of Clara’s and Yana’s original solos and a joint duet, which was primarily performed outdoors under the title Womanhood.
Instead of the traditional depiction of Lilith and Eve as opposing figures, they are approached as symbols of female strength, choice, and transformation. This raises questions and challenges narratives in which women are either obedient or dangerous. The performance celebrates complexity, strength, and inner freedom — rather than submission and fear. At the heart of the project is a return to the power of ritual as an eternal and transformative tool for experiencing female identity, self-discovery, and even initiation.

WARNING: The performance features spoken language and nudity.

Yana Reutova has worked as a dancer, choreographer, and educator in the Odesa region, from which she fled the war in March 2022 to Prague, where she continues her artistic and teaching work. She created the triptych “Together Alone”, which succeeded in the EFFEA Open Call, as well as a gallery project and two equally successful children’s performances, “On the Way” and “Childhood Time”. She has been invited to festivals in Italy, Spain, France, Brazil, Poland, Lithuania, and also in the Czech Republic: TANEC PRAHA, Czech Dance Platform, and Bazaar Festival. For the third year, she has been collaborating with Brazilian performer Clara da Costa, who relocated to Europe.
Clara da Costa, a dancer, choreographer, and educator, studied Performance at SEAD in Salzburg, Austria, and also studied at Tisch School of the Arts – NYU, USA. She completed workshops with David Zambrano, Les Slovaks, Frey Faust, and others. She has led workshops for Cirque du Soleil. She works in musical theatre as a choreographer, director, trainer, and also as a resident director. Since 2003, she has been leading the Corpo Único workshop (contemporary dance and improvisation) in Brazil and Europe.
