Nature slowly awakens. The world begins to move as light, colours, and sounds change. Rain gently touches the ground, droplets draw a rhythm, the wind whispers, and silence fills with life once again. Tana opens a magical, dreamlike micro-world of nature where children’s imagination can unfold freely.
Two characters set off on a journey through a landscape where seasons, weather, and moods shift and transform. A space for exploration, play, and change emerges. Movement grows out of observing the animal world and spontaneous children’s play — rolling, crawling, sliding, and jumping. A caterpillar curls into its cocoon, a bear searches for its den, bees inhabit their hive, and a snail retreats into its shell. Through dance, playful work with fabric, and imaginative costumes, a story unfolds about searching for home, safety, and a place to belong.
The choreography plays with contrasts of slowness and speed, heaviness and lightness, energy and softness, gently guiding children through the atmosphere of each scene. Earthy colours, authentic nature sounds, and projections create space for imagination, tenderness, gentle humour, and childlike playfulness.
In the final moments, Tana’s world opens to the audience. The stage transforms into a place of shared play and discovery — children and adults alike are invited to enter the space, explore movement, shapes, and sounds, and become part of this ever-changing world.
Tana is a poetic invitation to slow down, to share space, and to experience nature as a place where we can feel safe and together.
Compagnia TPO is an Italian dance and performance company focused on visual and interactive work for children and adults alike. Their creations bring together dance, image, sound, and space, shaping environments in which the audience can actively take part in the stage action. The project Tana was created in collaboration with Sardegna Teatro and the production platform Fuorimargine, which supports research-based and experimental projects in contemporary dance.
